Biodiversity Conservation

The biodiversity conservation program of ASLM aims to promote the identification and conservation of biodiversity refuges in managed landscapes, including agricultural systems, urban areas, and home gardens. The program also provides technical guidance for national and international agencies to identify and declare protected areas.

Past Projects:

Preparation of technical and administrative proposal for the declaration of Wilpattu wetland cluster as a Ramsar site in Sri Lanka, 2012-2013 (Partner: Department of Wildlife Conservation, Ceylon Bird Club and Center for Applied Biodiversity Research and Conservation).

Assessment of biodiversity in traditional landscapes of Sri Lanka.

Conservation Assessment of the Sinharaja World Heritage Site.
