CONSULTATIONS WITH TEA PLANTATION STAKE HOLDERS

ASLM, in collaboration with Rainforest Alliance for South Asia have initiated consultations with the relevant government institutions, private companies and tea small holders to promote sustainable agricultural practices in accordance with the Sustainable Agricultural Network (SAN) Farm Standards, and facilitate tea plantations to obtain the Rainforest Alliance Certification. The latter certification is recognized by consumers world over as a symbol of environmental, social and economic sustainability, hence would facilitate the tea industry in Sri Lanka to gain a competitive advantage in the global tea market.
