ABOUT US

The Alliance for Sustainable Landscapes Management (ASLM) is a Registered Non-governmental Organization in Sri Lanka.

It was founded in Year 2000 to promote sustainable agriculture projects in rural areas of Sri Lanka, and registered with the Ministry of Social Services on July 10th, 2001 (Reg. No. L 30702). ASLM underwent a major reorganization in January 2012 to broaden its environmental activities in Sri Lanka.

A revised constitution was approved by the members and ASLM was registered with the National Secretariat for Non-governmental Organizations in Sri Lanka on October 10th, 2012. Current members of ASLM include agronomists, eco-agriculturists, conservation biologists, ecologists, environmental economists, sociologists, environmental architects, and community development specialists.

OUR MAIN OBJECTIVES

• Promote the conservation of biodiversity.

• Promote the conservation of traditional landscapes as areas that sustain biological and cultural heritage.

• Mobilize and empower local communities for sustainable management of landscapes, and sustainable extraction of natural resources.

• Promote the restoration of degraded forest and wetland ecosystems.

• Engage in training, education, research and awareness campaigns on sustainable landscapes management.
